An expanded restoration council will decide Trinity’s fate PM

The Extended Restoration Council will discuss restoration and conservation measures after experts assess the condition of the Trinity icon penned by Andrey Rublev. He announced this in an interview with DEA News Dmitry Sergeev, Director General of the All-Russian Center for Artistic Research and Restoration named after Academician Grabar.

According to Sergeev, experts in the field of studying, preserving and restoring ancient Russian painting will be invited to the council, which will decide the fate of the restoration of the Trinity. They will examine the current state of the icon and determine the restoration task,” he said.

Sergeev explained that one of the possible solutions would be to create optimal conditions that stabilize the state of the token and monitor its security.

“Trinity” was created by the artist Andrei Rublev in the first quarter of the 15th century, in 1929 it was transferred to the State Tretyakov Gallery. On May 15, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered the icon in the Tretyakov Gallery to the Russian Orthodox Church. Experts are worried about the fate of the icon, which needs special storage conditions.
