Director Andrey Zvyagintsev first made contact with his fans after coming out of a coma due to COVID-19. In an interview with Radio Dolin, she talked about her fight against the disease and her health.
“My space and time is now limited to 1.5-2 meters – a bed in the clinic. You can say I’m chained to him and I’m not getting up from him, but I’ve been in the space of the news bulletin for the last 2 months,” he said.
Currently, the director continues his treatment in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he has been since mid-August last year. Zvyagintsev was sitting in a wheelchair during his conversation with Anton Dolin.
“Somewhere at the end of September they started pulling me out of my coma. This is a very interesting process, because I had delusions, that is, visions. I saw a few people around the corner, I asked them to leave. It must be experienced – it is impossible to retell. – remembers – When I thought about it, I realized that my hands did not obey me. Things fell from my hands. I couldn’t eat – the nurses fed me.”
As a result, Zvyagintsev was diagnosed with polyneuropathy, but with the efforts of doctors, the ability to move, speak and eat independently is gradually returning to him. Now the director participates in intensive physiotherapy and learns to walk again with the help of therapeutic simulators.
