Spanish hairdresser and stylist Luis Longeras has died at the age of 87. It has been reported elmundo.es.
The cause of death was cancer.
Luis Longeras was born on May 24, 1936. At the age of 14, she started working as a hairdresser’s assistant at the prestigious Can Dalmau barber shop in Barcelona. She opened her first beauty salon in 1958. Longeras is considered an innovator in its field. In 1972 the stylist opened Europe’s first unisex salon for men and women.
Lonegueras was also friends and studied with artist Salvador Dali. He collaborated with her in the creation of the world’s largest wig, which adorned the room dedicated to actress Mae West at the Dali Theatre-Museum. The hairdresser has also worked with Sophia, Queen consort of Greece, Spain, Duchess of Alba, and actress Raquel Welch.
Lonegueras has written many books on photography, painting and sculpture, as well as hairdressing.
