Director Martin Scorsese said he would make a new film about Jesus Christ at the request of the Pope, who urged cultural figures to “show us Jesus”. In this respect reported publication “Catholic Civilization”.
“I responded to the Pope’s call to artists in the only way I knew how, by designing and writing a script for a movie about Jesus. And I’m going to start building it,” Scorsese said.
Previous Scorsese in an interview with Deadline declarationwho doesn’t make big plans for cinema because of his age. According to the 80-year-old cinematographer, the situation might have been different had the production of the film taken a few months. Scorsese noted that he still loves to read and wants to tell stories, but believes the director has little time left.
Prior to that, at the 76th Cannes Film Festival premiere took place Scorsese’s new movie The Flower Moon Killers. The plot is based on journalist David Grann’s book of the same name, set in 1920s Oklahoma – someone starts killing Native Americans from the settlement where an oil field is discovered, and the FBI takes over the investigation. The film stars Brendan Fraser and Jesse Plemons, along with DiCaprio, De Niro, and Gladstone.
