Russian film company Russian World Vision (RWV) has acquired the rights to Studio Ghibli cartoons by Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. It has been reported TASS referring to the press service of the film company.
The deal was concluded in the Cannes film market. “22 films from Studio Ghibli’s gold library, created by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata in 1985, became the property of producer Konstantin Elkin’s Russian company World Vision. “The library contains images of 10 of Miyazaki’s films, as well as other geniuses of Japanese animation.”
The company has acquired all rights, including distribution in theaters.
Previously recognizedWith Studio Ghibli’s decision not to renew its rental rights in Russia, the famous director Hayao Miyazaki’s cartoons will be removed from Russian broadcasting platforms on June 1st.
