Singaporean actor and comedian Wahid Satai has died at the age of 93. It has been reported Straits Times.
Satai died of gangrene and heart disease at her grandson’s home in Singapore on May 22. It is also stated that the actor has diabetes. In early May, the artist was hospitalized for a bacterial infection of the big toe. Then the disease spread to the heart. He was buried in the Pusara Aman Muslim Cemetery in Choa Chu Kan.
Satay was born in 1930. Before starting his acting career, the artist was engaged in painting. He started working as a set designer at Cathay Keris Studios in 1956. In 1957, director BN Rao offered Satai a comedy role in Pontianak. In 1966, the humorist won an award in the “Best Comedian” category at the Asian Film Festival.
It has been noted that Satai was often compared to the late American comedian and actor Jerry Lewis because of his penchant for silly comedies. The actor was nicknamed “Malayan Jerry Lewis”.
