The shooting of the documentary “Ebb” for the Russian online cinema Premier has started in India. This is reported by the stream’s press service.
The production of the project was undertaken by KIT Film Studio (part of Gazprom-Media Holding JSC as part of GPM KIT). The main characters of the picture are people working in the salt fields. “They boil sea water day and night and extract its salt. Their bodies are covered with ulcers and their hair is salted so that even children look like gray-haired old men. The people here are barely surviving, but age-old traditions and fear of change keep them in this harsh land,” the authors write about the Kutch Desert.
Two young workers, blogger Ranjit and information-seeking Shyam, decide to run away in search of a new way in life. “These young men have been an incredible example that I have personally inspired, they really go through a lot of hard work to get an education, make money to start a family. “Such a longing is a surprisingly powerful message for everyone, especially for the younger generation living in today’s very difficult world,” says director Igor Virabov, who flew to India for another project, but accidentally saw the salt fields in the Indian state of Gujarat. With the advent of machinery and large corporations, workers in the salt fields are near extinction and must find a new way to make a living.
