SAG-AFTRA, the National Council of the American Actors Guild, voted to recommend that union members go on strike. In this respect informs deadline.
The actors are threatening to go on strike if the Film and Television Producers Guild does not reach an agreement with the union. Negotiations for the new contract will begin on June 7, while the current contract will expire on June 30. Like screenwriters who have gone on strike before, actors demand changes in wage conditions amid inflation and the need to work for the broadcast. They point out that under these conditions, corporate profits and studio bosses’ salaries also increase.
SAG-AFTRA has a total of 160 thousand experts. The union council voted unanimously in favor of the strike.
