Actor Dolph Lundgren has revealed for the first time that he has been battling cancer for eight years. His words are quotes Variation.
Doctors first detected a tumor in the kidney area in 2015 in the artist. “I came back to Sweden in 2020 and had an MRI. “Doctors have detected a few more tumors in this area,” he said. One of the growths grew too large to be removed.
Lundgren had to start systemic therapy. In the autumn of 2021, when he came to London to shoot the sequels of Aquaman and The Expendables, several more tumors were discovered in the actor. “I asked the doctor: “How much do you think I have left?” I think he said two or three years, but I can tell he thought it was probably less than it sounded,” Lundgren recalls.
The actress said that the second doctor was reviewing her treatment. The new techniques reduced their tumors by about 20-30% over a three-month period.
Lundgren will return as King Nereus on Warner Bros. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom premieres on December 20. He will also reprise his role as Gunner Jensen for the fourth time in The Expendables 4.
