Interview with director Christopher Nolan weekly fun Actor admitted that Cillian Murphy auditioned for the lead role in Batman Begins.
According to Nolan, knowing that the actor would not play Batman, he deliberately invited Murphy to audition. Murphy finally appeared as the Scarecrow in Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The actor admitted that he wasn’t fit for the role of Batman, but agreed to do a screen test for a chance to work with Nolan. “The casting of Christian Bale for this role felt right to me. But I remember the excitement of trying on the suit. The samples had a high production value for me,” he said.
