philologist and expert in Cervantes and Shakespeare Jose Enrique Gil-Delgado Crespo presents a conference This Wednesday at 20:00. It was opened last year by Julio de España at the Despalic sociocultural association in Alicante, on the street Radiofonista Raúl Álvarez Antón.
The Cardenio Story: Has Shakespeare Read Don Quixote? is the title of the conference framed in the loop Readings and re-readings in the century of Cervantes and Shakespeare, in commemoration of the IV Centenary of the death of both universal authors on the same day (16 April 1616). Professor Gil-Delgado lectures the relationship between two great writers of literature under the character Cardenio Cervantes’ Quixote, which Shakespeare took to the theater in his play History of CardenioIt was partially lost in a fire at The Globe Theater in 1613, becoming a true legend for bibliophiles who cataloged it as “Shakespeare’s lost work”.
