Action star Jackie Chan admitted in an interview with socialbites.ca that he was trying to find a successor, but so far without success. The lack of a suitable candidate among young action stars, Chan explains the strangeness of the modern film process.

“All these years I’ve been trying to find another Jackie Chan. But being a stunt actor like Jackie Chan or other action stars is hard – you need to be able to not only fight, but also jump, move, direct, write, edit. Do a lot of different things. Available action movie stars don’t know how to be a director. And if they know how to do it, they don’t understand anything about the setup. Or they don’t understand anything about choreography. Some directors don’t know how to shoot action scenes. Or they have a good director, a good action star, but they have good action “There is no director. Or all three, but there is no good editor,” Chang said.

According to the actor, he independently wrote the script, directed, staged and edited the stunts: “So, when you watch old action movies, you’re like, ‘Wow, that’s so cool! For better or worse, a director in Hollywood today is just a director. There is also a separate editing director, lighting director, cinematographer, there are so many of them!”

Chan also complained about the fact that it’s hard to find good cinematographers these days who can shoot action scenes. “Being a good action cameraman takes experience. And there are very few such specialists. But now it’s easier, you can use a small GoPro and we once shot huge ones that weighed a ton.
