Actor Jackie Chan talked about what scenes he likes to play in an interview with socialbites.ca.
Chan stated that he enjoys both drama and action scenes, but prefers the former. She explained that the drama had to “get through” and get used to your character. According to the star, this is more difficult than working on the action sequences.
“Of course I like the drama more: it’s harder than the action. In the second, you can make fun of someone, perform some kind of physical action. And the drama… It’s about patience. You have to sit down, leave everything to yourself, think about it. While you’re working on it, you interact with, talk to another actor or actress, both getting used to their characters. And you are really crying. This is not just eye drops for your drip. It’s a much harder job than shooting action. But I love both,” Chan shared.
Chan noted that in the last 15 years of his acting career, he has changed a lot of onscreen people to not be perceived as just an action star.
“I’ve changed my on-screen character over the past 15 years because I don’t want viewers to think of Jackie Chan as just an action star. After all, the action star is short in age. And I asked myself: “How can I continue making films? I’m not that young anymore, I can’t fight like I used to.” The audience might say: “Oh, Jackie is getting old.” They may not want to see me like this. As a result I got more involved in dramas and made less action movies like The Karate Kid, The Foreigner, Big Soldier, New Police Story … I gradually changed and then people realized that Jackie Chan was no longer a star militant. He is an actor,” said the artist.
