The Moscow Zamoskvoretsky Court ruled that theater director Yevgenia Berkovich should be detained by July 4 in a criminal case legitimizing terrorism. It has been reported TASS.
“Choose Berkovich as a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of time until July 4,” the judge said.
The director’s defense is appealing the court decision.
Previously, the director’s lawyer Ksenia Karpinskaya reportedBerkovich pleads not guilty in this case.
Moscow Zamoskvoretsky Court previously reported that a criminal case was opened against the director for posting a reading of the play on YouTube. As the defense pointed out, the review in this case was carried out by an educational institution and was described as “destructive”. The lawyer called this term pseudo-scientific.
According to the director’s mother, Elena Efros, her daughter was sued for the play Finist the Clear Falcon, based on playwright Svetlana Petriychuk’s play, who was detained with the director. The heroines of the play are women who decided to marry radical Islamists virtually and came to them in Syria.
