In an interview with Elizaveta Likhacheva, the new director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts TASS promised to surprise its visitors with new exhibitions.
According to Likhacheva, there are many good examples of Western art in Russia, and these are not just famous collections. “We have a lot of work to do. And although we cannot bring permanent exhibitions from Europe, I think we can fulfill the function of showing Western art,” he said.
In addition, he added that the museum would like to showcase Buddhist art from Mongolia, an Indian exhibit, Latin American contemporary art exhibits, and products of Aztec and Maya Indians. “There are serious developments and we will be able to talk about it somewhere in six months. So far these are plans, but we are actively working on it, we have already contacted all parties and will be able to officially announce when agreements are signed, ”he said, promising the Russian people many unexpected discoveries.
