The commission for the acceptance of the property of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra continued its work on April 25. DEA News Regarding the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko.

According to Tkachenko, all state property should be returned according to the results of the study. “There are more than three dozen buildings, so the process continues. The commission continues its work today,” he said.

After the complete transfer of the Lavra to the state, it will be decided what will happen on its territory. Tkachenko stated that there should be public discussions on this issue.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church has already stated that Tkachenko proposes to establish a rehabilitation center for the army or a center of folk arts crafts instead of a monastery.

In March, the UOC received a notification from the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture that the monastery’s lease was unilaterally terminated, and the monks were asked to leave the Lavra on 29 March. The priests were told they could stay in the Lavra provided they transferred to the schismatic OCU. The priests refused.
