Siberians Evgeny Kovalevsky and Stanislav Berezkin, who embarked on their first voyage around the world in an inflatable sailing trimaran, were shipwrecked near Easter Island. The press service of the TV channel “My Planet” told the correspondent “socialbites.ca” that after the SOS signal, the Chilean rescue services came to the aid of the sailors.
“The crew was rescued, but the ocean trimaran took the Russian Ocean Road with almost all equipment and goods,” the source said. “The situation was saved by the Russian navigator Dmitry Trubitsyn, who provided the Siberians with a catamaran that had been stored on Easter Island for eight years.”
Currently, the team is preparing to reconquer the Pacific Ocean on a new ship. Departure is scheduled for April 23 at 12:00 local time. Travelers will head to Nuku Hiva’s Marquesas Island for a month and the island of Tahiti, the capital of French Polynesia.
The expedition of Kovalevsky and Berezkin began in Kronstadt in July 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in July 2024. The third part of the documentary series “Swim across the ocean.
