According to Variety’s report, Al Pacino announced that he turned down the role of Han Solo early in the Star Wars franchise and helped launch Harrison Ford’s career.
He was called into the George Lucas project as a rising Hollywood star, according to recollections of The Godfather star.
And even though Pacino was offered a high fee, he turned Star Wars down because he couldn’t figure out his plan.
“After The Godfather was released, I had already become popular and was in such demand in the industry that I was offered roles in all new projects. Queen II, if need be. They would offer me to play Elizabeth myself. But I turned down the role of Han Solo in Star Wars because I had no idea what the movie was about. They offered me a lot of money, but I realized that it was not mine. As a result, Harrison Ford played Solo, and it turns out that he owes his career to me, ”Pacino jokingly said.
