On The Stephen Colbert Show, 61-year-old actor Woody Harrelson confirmed that his friend and True Detective co-star Matthew McConaughey, 53, may be his paternal brother. Like McConaughey before him, Harrelson remembered a trip to Greece with McConaughey’s mother, Mary McCabe. Then, he said he knew Harrelson’s father about 54 years ago and took a pause, which the actor described as “disturbing or interesting.”

Nine months before the birth of her son, Harrelson announced that McCabe might be having an affair with his father and temporarily break up with James Donald McConaughey. He also noted that Matthew was in no rush to get a DNA test.

“It is not easy for him to decide. He thinks he will lose his father and I say no, you will get another father and brother,” Harrelson said.

McConaughey told her mother’s story on April 14:

“A few years ago we sat in Greece and chatted with our families about how close we are. My mom says, “Woody, I knew your dad.” And everyone heard three dots after the word “knew”. He KNEW that meant.

McConaughey also said that he and Harrelson were family friends and that relatives were often confused in the photos.

“You know where I started and where he ended and where he started and I ended, it’s always been like a blurred line. And that’s part of our friendship, right? My kids call him Uncle Woody. His kids call me Uncle Matthew. And you see our photos and My family thinks it’s me in most of the photos “His family thinks it’s me in most of the photos,” McConaughey said.

Charles Harrelson

Woody’s father, Charles Harrelson, is known to be a hit man. Charles received his first sentence for armed robbery in 1960, but served only five months and was subsequently acquitted. He later confessed to dozens of murders in the 1960s.

He was jailed for contract killings in 1973. He valued his job at $2,000, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but was released on good behavior five years later.

Charles Harrelson received two life sentences for the 1981 murder of federal judge Jonathan Wood. The accomplices who handed over Harrelson were cleared of all charges. Charles’ wife, Jo Ann, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a combination of perjury and conspiracy charges.

Jameel Chagra, who turned Charles over in 2003, took back his words and said that Harrelson did not kill federal judge Wood. Harrelson Jr. tried to continue the investigation and trial, but to no avail.

Charles also attributed the assassination of John F. Kennedy to himself, but the investigation rejected these statements when they found no evidence. However, there is still a theory that he was linked to the assassination of the president and that Kennedy helped prepare for the assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald. Later, however, Harrelson admitted that he had nothing to do with the case and mentioned that he was involved in the Kennedy assassination just to extend his life in prison.

Woody visited Charles regularly from the moment he learned that his father was in prison. He died in prison in 2007 of a heart attack at the age of 68.

“My father is one of the most eloquent, most read, most attractive people I know. However, I am only now assessing whether he deserves my loyalty or friendship. I look at him as someone who can be more of a friend than a father,” Woody Harrelson said of his father.
