The European premiere of the science fiction film “Petropolis” by Russian director Valery Fokin, artistic director of the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, took place. It has been reported TASS.
The film was screened in the historical Urania cinema in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, as part of the International Theater Olympiad. The head of the Olympic organizing committee, the head of the Hungarian National Theater Attila Vidnyansky, described the inclusion of Petropolis in the show program as natural, since Fokine is primarily a theater director.
The film was based on the play of the same name, based on the story of his son, writer and playwright Kirill Fokin, which Fokin staged at Alexandrinka a few years ago. The Russian premiere of the film took place in October 2022. According to Fokine, one of the themes of the film is the “need for change and renewal” that needs to be strived for.
Fokin also introduced A performance adapted from a play by REX’s son, for the Olympics, in Hungary.
