Elijah Wood, star of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, was skeptical about the new film adaptation of John Tolkien’s work, Variety reports.

The actor was skeptical about the filmmakers’ intention to remake the world of Middle-earth.

“I was surprised by this news. Frankly, this desire is based on pure business. Our project has become one of the most successful projects in history and the new movie adaptation can also make good money at the global box office. But I hope the new series is made with respect to Tolkien’s legacy and only makes as much money as possible. It’s not done with the goal of winning,” Wood said.

At the same time, the actor of the role of Frodo admitted that it is always a matter of time before the release of a new adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.

“You can get the producers to understand too – it’s such a cool story not to try to shoot it over and over again. I hope they get a quality result,” the actress summarized.
