Streaming service Max (a combination of HBO Max and Discovery+) has released the trailer for “Sympathizer,” a mini-spy series directed by South Korean director Park Chang Wook. (“Old Man”, “Decision to Leave”) is based on the novel of the same name by Vietnamese-American writer Viet Thanh Nguyen.
At the Hoa Xuande show (Cowboy Bebop from Netflix) He plays a North Vietnamese spy who infiltrates a refugee community in 1970s Los Angeles. The series’ official description calls the project a “spy thriller and cross-cultural satire” about the adventures of a Franco-Vietnamese communist spy.

Viet Thanh Nguyen’s first novel was published in 2015 and became a New York Times bestseller and also won a Pulitzer Prize. The book was also published in Russian.
