Her real name is Juliet Marion Hulme.Born October 28, 1938, but changed his name after serving time for murder in New Zealand.

At age 15, writer and friend Pauline Parker was tried and sentenced to several years in New Zealand for the murder of her friend’s mother, Honrah Rieper. The two beat Parker’s mother to death with a brick in Christchurch. These events would later become the inspiration for director Peter Jackson’s psychological drama “Heavenly Creatures” (1994).

After serving a five-year sentence, Perry was released and changed his name, back. United Kingdom and started his career as a writer.

“Anne was a loyal and loved friend, and her writing was driven by her fierce dedication to highlighting social injustice. Many readers were impressed by her empathy for people in impossible situations or overwhelmed by life’s challenges.”

A note from the agency reporting the death of the author and two other U.S. agencies adds, “His characters aroused great love among his fans, and also comforted many readers who were going through a difficult time.”

In 1979, Perry published “The Cater Street Murders,” the first of a series of books starring Victorian cop Thomas Pitt and his wife Charlotte.

He published another novel in the series this month called “The Fourth Enemy”. and in 2017 he released “21 days,” which follows the couple’s son, Daniel. Perry’s second crime novel series revolves around detective William Monk and nurse Hester Latterly.

In 2000, he won the Edgar Award, which rewards crime novel writers. With “Heroes”, which is about a murder that took place in the trenches during the First World War.

He worked before he died More Pitt and Monk series titles and his work has regularly appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. Perry was born in Blackheath, London, but first moved to the Bahamas at age 8 before settling in New Zealand.
