“There’s a change in Kiss the Girl because people are very sensitive to the way Prince Eric pushes himself on Ariel,” said the composer.
According to Menken, he also adjusted the original lyrics to “Poor Unfortunate Souls” because “it may cause young girls to refuse to speak when not asked about them”. In it, the enemy Ursula states that guys do not like talkative girls, forcing Ariel to vote for her.
The premiere of the musical “The Little Mermaid” is scheduled for May 26, 2023. The tape will be an adaptation of the classic Disney cartoon from 1989, in which Princess Ariel falls in love with Prince Eric and agrees to make a deal with the insidious witch Ursula for the sake of love – she voted for the opportunity to live on land.
