Andreasyan explained that this is due to the genre characteristics, as well as the cult character of the character himself in the CIS. The picture about Cheburashka is intended for a family audience. According to the director, “Cheburashka” will always make more money than the sequel to James Cameron’s “Avatar.”
Andreasyan is sure that even if the second part of Avatar is officially released in Russia, he will not reach the same popularity as Cheburashka.
“Because my mom doesn’t want to watch Avatar, but she wants to watch Cheburashka. Because as a child he loved Cheburashka and does not know who the blue little guys are. Accordingly, Cheburashka’s audience is wider, ”explained the cinematographer.
