Painting by British artist Banksy “Be brave!” It was reported that it was sold for 2 million 32 thousand dollars. Guard.
Banksy’s work sold at auction for three times its original price ($600,000). The painting depicts an angel of death riding a carnival bumper car.
The painting was made in 2010 for the British band Exit Through the Gift Shop. The artist sketched the piece to reclaim the rights to the band’s name for the documentary film of the same name. The movie was released in 2010 and was nominated for an Oscar. The group changed its name to Brace Yourself! (“Gather your courage!”).
The painting was put up for auction by the band’s singer, Natalie Zalevska. He explained that the sale of the work was intended to preserve the work as “part of history”. The band members took the stage at the auction. A portion of the proceeds from the film will go to the music charity MusiCares, which provides medical, financial and rehabilitation support to those working in the industry.
Previously UK authorities reportedly dismantled Banksy’s graffiti collage a day after it was created.
