The exhibition includes paintings by Wassily Kandinsky, Natalia Goncharova and Alexei Venetsianov, which are held in the funds of the museum and rarely participate in exhibitions: “We will introduce you to cityscapes, cityscapes – these are Moscow and the Kremlin in particular. “We will show how artists perceived the center of our city from the beginning of the 18th century and how the image of the city was subsequently transformed by avant-garde artists,” said Tatiana Karpova, Deputy Director General of the Tretyakov Research Gallery.

The curators Nina Divova and Anna Churkina selected the works according to the principle of genre: architectural views and images of cities, interior, everyday and historical genres. This allows you to see how different artists work with the same motif.

The exhibition also includes, for the first time, photographs of Art Nouveau interiors designed by World of Art artists Alexander Benois, Konstantin Korovin, Lev Bakst, Alexander Golovin and Igor Grabar. The exhibition also includes works by sculptors from different centuries and porcelain compositions by Alexei Sotnikov, which are rarely displayed in museums.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 28 March.
