Louvre stopped working due to strike against pension reform 12:20

On March 27, the Louvre in Paris stopped working, as workers went on strike in connection with the demand for the repeal of the pension reform. It has been reported TASS Referring to the statement of representatives of the General Confederation of Labour, the largest trade union in France.

The Louvre was closed from 09:00 Paris time (10:00 Moscow time). Altogether, several cultural workers’ unions and Louvre workers themselves are also participating in the strike. “This action is being carried out as part of the ongoing mobilization of cultural workers against pension reform,” the organizers said.

Louvre representatives confirmed the suspension on social media and thanked visitors for their understanding.

Last year, 7.8 million people, mostly foreign tourists, visited Paris’ most popular museum.

There have been strikes against pension reform in France since the end of January. According to the new draft law, the retirement age will be increased from 62 to 64.
