People’s Artist of Russia Nikolai Baskov brought the Ukrainian singer Taisiya Povaliy to tears by performing the song “Let Me Go” in the TV show “My Melody” on the “Russia 1” channel.
“Arm, I cried. This is so touching! said Povaliy. “The tears were crushing me, I held on for a long time and then I couldn’t.”
According to Baskov, he was worried when he saw Povaliy crying. Noting that the composition means a lot to him, the artist said, “This is our melody with you. He’s important to me.”
The song “Leave Me” was released on CIS radio stations on November 17, 2004, giving the title to the duet mini-album “Let me go”. Staying in it for 24 weeks and garnering more than 600,000 rotations, TopHit entered the top ten hits of the CIS chart. For the song “Let me go” Baskov and Povaliy received the first statuettes of the “Golden Gramophone”.
