A group of 100 drummers performed the song “My Hero” from Foo Fighters’ 1997 album The Color and the Shape. The action is dedicated to the memory of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away at the age of 50 in the spring of 2022.

To record the song at the Sports Palace in Antwerp, the musicians teamed up with Belgian rock band Black Box Revelation, whose members called Hawkins “the greatest drummer of our time”. In the description of the video on YouTube, it is stated that Hawkins’ last performance with Foo Fighters in Belgium took place at Sportpalais.

Taylor Hawkins passed away on March 25, 2022, while the Foo Fighters were on their South American tour. Post-mortem testing revealed the presence of opioids, antidepressants, and psychotropic substances in the drummer’s body.

In January 2023, the band announced that they would continue after Hawkins’ death. Next summer, the team should return to performances at concerts and festivals. Who will play Hawkins’ roles has yet to be announced.
