Disney CEO Bob Iger said his company closely examines all aspects of the content business, including film and television, while charting the best path in a complex media environment. He pointed to the challenges of the industry in which his company operates: the declining television business; a cinema business with an uncertain future and a growing flow that requires a selective path to profitability.

“I’m delighted that the support I’ve had from the company’s creators is significant, and that means lower costs for content, whether it’s a series or a movie, where costs skyrocket and I think is unacceptable. . They all agree,” Eiger said, adding that it is also about “understanding how much volume we need and reducing how much we gain.”
He stated that core content of the series (Marvel, Star Wars, Frozen, and others) will remain exclusive to Disney-owned platforms.
“Disney is very powerful, by far the most influential brand in family entertainment,” said Iger, adding that when viewers see The Little Mermaid in May, “it will remind you how powerful this brand is.”
“We made three Star Wars movies and we called them sagas; these were clearly the successors to the first six George Lucas films. They did very well at the box office – actually very good. We made two so-called standalone games, Rogue One and Solo. Rogue One did a good job, Solo was a bit of a disappointment. This led us to think that the output speeds might be excessive. And so we decided to take a step back. We’re still developing Star Wars movies. We’ll make sure it’s accurate when we create it, so we’re very careful,” he said.
Iger concluded that the goal was to focus on the quality, not the quantity, of published content.
