Disney has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming family horror comedy The Haunted Mansion. The video is available on the official YouTube channel of the Canadian division of Walt Disney Studios.
In the story, single mother Gabby moves into an old mansion in New Orleans with her nine-year-old son, but soon strange things begin to happen in the house that the heroes buy for suspiciously cheap. A priest, a paranormal investigator, a psychic and a historian come to the aid of the family.
Actors include Rosario Dawson, Lakeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Jared Leto, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chase Dillon, Winona Ryder and Dan Levy. The tape is directed by Justin Simien, the writer of the movie Dear White People and the TV series. The script was written by Cathy Dippold, who previously worked on the 2016 Ghostbusters.
The film was first announced in 2010 when Guillermo del Toro was appointed director, but later left the project due to creative differences and the script he wrote was found too scary for a family audience.
Perili Köşk will have its cinema premiere on July 28 in the United States.
The basis of the “Haunted Mansion” was the attraction in Disneyland of the same name. In 2003, a feature film starring Eddie Murphy had already been shot according to his motives. Over the past 25 years, Disney has also “bred to the big screen” attractions such as Tower of Terror, Mission to Mars, Village Bears, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrowland, and Jungle Cruise.
