Director Stanislav Svetlov’s debut work “The Island” written by Evgeny Baranov and Denis Osokin will represent Russia at the 4th International Children’s Film Festival in Beijing. In this respect informs “Russian newspaper”.
The main competition also featured feature films from Brazil, Germany, India, Iran, Lithuania, Slovakia and Chile.
In the story, twelve-year-old Ada lives with her mother in a small town in rural Russia, grows up and learns to be kind. “The film should give the audience a lot of joy, tenderness and warmth. This is a movie to watch with the family, that is, for all people without age or psychological disabilities. We want our film to bring love and people to love it, ”says Svetlov.
The main roles in the film were played by young actors Maria Kozhukhantseva (Island) and Vsevolod Yarchevsky (Vitya). The role for Masha was the first major role in the cinema, Seva Yarchevsky came to the cinema from music – a multi-instrumentalist musician and plays six musical instruments.
The roles of adults were played by Olga Ozollapina and Mikhail Lozhkin.
The film was created at the VGIK-Debut production center with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture.
The Children’s Film Festival will be held in China’s capital and other cities and villages from March 1 to April 25. The review has been in the country since 2018, it became international in 2022.
