Warner Bros. ‘South Park’ sues $500 million for violation of broadcasting rules

Warner Bros. According to Variety, it has sued Paramount Global, accusing it of violating part of a $500 million licensing agreement for the broadcast rights to the South Park animated series.

The evaporated parent company HBO Max alleges that Paramount violated its 2019 contract by redirecting exclusives and other South Park content to its streaming platform, Paramount+.

The lawsuit regarding the case was heard in the New York State Supreme Court on February 24, 2023.

“Warner Bros./HBO is filing this lawsuit to protect its rights and to recover hundreds of millions of dollars in damages resulting from the defendants’ misconduct,” the lawsuit states.

South Park has been a staple of cable channel Paramount Global Comedy Central for over 25 years, airing 26 seasons and more than 300 episodes.
