The upcoming fourth season of HBO’s The Descendants will be its final season. This was expressed by series creator Jesse Armstrong in an interview with The New Yorker magazine.

According to the author, he never thought the series could “go on forever.” “The end was always on my mind. Ever since season two, I’ve been trying to think: is this the next, or the next, or the next? Armstrong agreed.

“Before I started writing the script for season 4 around November/December 2021, I sat down with a few of my fellow writers and said, ‘Look, maybe we should end here.’ But what do you think? And we played different scenarios: we could have played a few more short seasons or two more. [полноценных] season. Or we could go on forever and turn the show into something completely different, a bigger, free-form variety show with good episodes and bad episodes. Or we can do something more solid and complete and come out strong. And this has definitely always been my preferred option,” the creator of “Heirs” shared.

The Descendants aired on HBO in 2018. The show revolves around influential media mogul Logan Roy and his four children, each claiming to be heirs to his father’s empire. The series stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook and Alan Ruck. The premiere of the fourth season is scheduled for March 27.
