German director, screenwriter and producer Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, known for their series Darkness and 1899, have renewed their contracts with the streaming service Netflix. We’re talking about an eight-figure contract, according to Deadline.

Odar and Friese’s next project for Netflix will be the multi-family adaptation of Something’s Killing Children, a comic by James Tynion IV and Werther Del’Edera, which began airing in September 2019. Prior to that, horror producer Mike Flanagan left the project due to creative differences. (“The Haunting of the Hill House”, “Midnight Rite”), then signed a contract with Amazon and undertook the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series.

The action of the comic takes place in a small American town where children are kidnapped by scary creatures living in the shadows. The only person who can deal with the monsters is the mysterious girl Erica Slaughter.

“Something’s Killing the Kids” has become one of the most successful English-language original comics of the past five years, with over two million copies sold worldwide, according to Deadline.

Previously Netflix canceled Odar and Friese’s 1899 after its first season. You can read more about the show at: reviews “socialbites.ca”.
