American Artist Joan Mitchell Foundation sent Fashion brand Louis Vuitton has been sued for using the artist’s images in a photo shoot for the brand’s new advertising campaign.
In the campaign, actress Léa Seydoux posed with a bag of Capucines. The photographs were taken at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, where La Grande Vallée XIV (For a Short Time), Quatuor II for Betsy Jolas, and Edrita Fried are exhibited.
The artist’s foundation said that at the end of 2022, representatives of Louis Vuitton asked the foundation to allow Mitchell’s work to be used, but the request was denied because permission to use the artist’s work was only given if the project was for educational purposes.
