Russian pianist Mikhail Pletnev was not allowed to leave the stage after his successful performance in Greece. It has been reported DEA News.

According to eyewitnesses, after the concert dedicated to the 150th birthday of composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, the audience applauded Pletnev for a long time and shouted “bravo” to the musician.

Pletnev performed Rakhmaninov’s Rhapsody on the Paganini Theme with the Athens State Orchestra at the Megaro Musicis Concert Hall in Athens. “Usually in Russian music – especially in Rachmaninoff’s music – external measured rationality is combined with serious and crazy passion. Concert organizers have been able to demonstrate this strange association as successfully as pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev, whose delicate taste and impeccable virtuosity made him one of the most ideal performers of Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody.”

In the second part of the concert, the orchestra performed the symphonic poem “Life of a Hero” by Richard Strauss.
