The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York changed the name of French painter Edgar Degas’s painting “Russian Dancer” to “Dancer in Ukrainian Dress” at the request of Ukrainian activists. It has been reported DEA News.
In the description of the picture it is indicated that in the books dedicated to the works of Degas until the beginning of the 21st century, the work of art was called “Russian Dancers”. He emphasizes that scientists are sure that the costumes on the canvas are actually traditional Ukrainian folk costumes, but there is no confirmation that the dancers are from Ukraine.
