Returning to Benidorm one year after your visit to Benidorm Fest, what memories does this city bring back to you?

The truth is, we didn’t have much time to see it. The memories are so positive and overwhelming but now, with the distance, the truth is that we love to go back and relive certain moments.

How would you describe your experience last year?

It was an intense, exciting and fun apprenticeship at the same time.

And competition and coexistence? Because in your raid the people were basically divided into “two Spains”.

Everything put together was truly something out of the festival, but brutal inside the good vibes from the comrades. There was always maximum respect and camaraderie to the end. We were all happy for the others and you were suffering too, if someone felt bad it was like there was no competition at all. But I understand that people are always looking for this morbidity.

One of the most controversial aspects of the festival was the voting system, in which the professional jury weighed heavily. What do you think about this method?

You already know the basics when you go, so you know what might happen. Everything is very clear and the moment you sign, you must do everything. Personally, and I’m not saying this for what’s happened to us, I wish the public vote would gain a little more weight, but I’m not showing off.

How has Tanxugueiras changed this year?

So much so that this year passed as if it had been 10 years for us in terms of learning. We’ve seen the public backlash when we weren’t very well known in the rest of Spain. Everyone treated us emotionally and respectfully, and that’s very exciting.

You will be performing as part of the festival program this year as well. What can someone who comes to see you expect from you?

I think it’s freshness, fun, sincerity, message, and reality.

You released “Diluvio” in July and toured the whole country. What projects are you currently working on?

Tanxugueiras never stop, always evolve, absorb other styles and learn to the fullest. Now we are working with other sounds that will surprise, I think even ourselves…

When it comes to your music, you combine traditional sounds with current trends. In recent years, more and more artists have moved away from the tendency to imitate Anglo-Saxon music, and other influences have dared to save popular themes from years ago… Do you think folklore has long been vilified? Are we ashamed or not proud of what is ours?

I believe we should never forget that there was a dictatorship where the other languages ​​of the country were barely spoken, let alone spoken. It is something that weighs heavily and needs to be awakened, it is wealth, it is culture, but people are accepting it more and more every day. For example, I am a Galician, I feel Catalan or Basque music as a part of me, I do not see it as something from the outside.

There are also several offers in co-official languages ​​this year. Would you like to see a Spanish representative singing in another language?

Man, that would be outrageous. Finally we have to talk about the fact that these are also State languages ​​and a different language can represent us, which is always an exciting thing. Unfortunately they are in the minority and many people do not understand them, so they disappear. They talk less every day so the fact that they could represent there would be very exciting.

And are we ready for that as a society or would it be too controversial?

It could be a little bit of everything: it could be an opportunity to see how rich and big Spain is, with so many facts about which little is known. People would see this as an opportunity.

In your case, now that you’re heard all over the country, do you think that singing in Galician makes it a bit difficult for you to convey the message of your songs?

I think it complicates things, but people listen to music in many languages ​​every day. When you enjoy the sound, it’s easy to think about what this song is saying to me, and I think in today’s age people go then and look for meaning.

Benidorm Festival has helped you promote yourself outside of your country, but has also made you the center of attention on social networks. You even have to close your profiles for it. hate. Are well-known people being too exposed on networks?

I think you have to understand that the more people get to know you, the more people will criticize you. We accept those who criticize us politely and those who try to improve because we are finally here to learn. But sometimes there are people who criticize you more to get the shit out of you, this life is so hard for anyone. When you understand this, you feel relieved… It’s not my place to criticize anyone’s life, not me. When evil is done to destroy, it is more about themselves than the artists.

How do you see this year’s edition? Do you have any favourites?

I see it as a powerful book that has a lot of content and can give a lot to talk about. Fusa Night It is power for me, it is a claw, it binds me to it very much.
