A group of deputies of the Tyumen District Duma demanded that the concerts of the singer Valery Meladze be banned in Russia. About informs Ura.ru addressed to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, citing the text of the deputies’ appeal.
The authors of the appeal asked “V. Sh. Meladze to consider the issue of the implementation of measures aimed at depriving him of the title of “Honored Artist of the Russian Federation”, as well as a complete ban on concert activity in the region of the Russian Federation.”
The letter was signed by deputies Vladimir Sysoev, Evgeny Makarenko, Ivan Vershinin, Larisa Tsupikova and Alexander Chepik.
In their own words, Meladze argues that he “supports a hostile state policy that has led to the violation of freedom of speech and the incitement of national hatred.” Before sending the letter, it must be approved by the head of the Divisional Regional Duma, Fuat Saifitdinov.
The deputies’ objection stems from the earlier spread of a video in the media where the artist allegedly perpetuates the slogan “Glory to Ukraine” with the words “Glory to Heroes” at a corporate party in Dubai.
