Palau Altea Viewpoint RoomCarrer d’Alcoi 18, Altea Opening: Friday, January 13 at 20:00 From 16:30 to 19:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 13 March.

In Sala Mirador del Palau Altea, Labad presents about thirty works under the title The Order of Beauty, in which the artist of Basque origin focuses on the poetics of the female figure under the unique abstract vision of his painting.

Thirty oil-on-canvas, unpublished and original works by Labad (Bilbao, 1940) created between 2019 and 2021, around his 80th birthday, coinciding with the pandemic.

In some themes and titles, the artist evokes the classical past of the old masters and takes it as an inspiring model for re-conquering a place in time, now, based on the aesthetic order of beauty, symmetry and harmony.

The artist is supported by his 57-year professional career and dedication to art. With a recognizable style in figures, natures or objects, she is meticulous in her lines, delicate in pale color and sharp in her compositions, showing beauty as something ethereal and calm. It has a clear bent towards the abstract and an elegant minimalist essence. At first glance, the artist’s characteristic personal stamp is admired, always supported by the technique he has perfected throughout his long career.

Labad is a painter born in Bilbao in 1940. In 1979 he settled with his family in Altea, where he took root. He has been living and working in his studio in L’Olla ever since.

Multidisciplinary artist Pepe Ros from Elche, who graduated from the Department of Architecture at the University of Valencia, combines architecture with artistic creation. This is what the Art and Tectura exhibition is talking about, a pun to reflect the connection between the two disciplines, architecture and painting, through abstract expressionism.

From ACAS, they point out that Ros’ work is based on the search for an idea through artistic expression, the exploration of the pictorial process, playing with the freedom to dig deeper, developing alternative processes in the use of supports, pigments and materials. he captures his particular view of reality through sensations and strokes and brushstrokes.

They add that their proposal is a quick picture looking for support and freshness among pigments, from the concept of abstract expressionism to achieving different colors, textures and glazes. Ros’ painting is expressed in her performance while painting her, looking at her, in a language that allows the viewer to convey plastic sensations. He is interested in communicating these sensations through abstraction.
