Meeting with director Akim Salbiev MK.ru The proposal by parliamentarians to legalize the screening of foreign films from unfriendly countries without a proper license has been compared to piracy.

“I am surprised that Parliamentarian Gorelkin proposes such a free screening without a license. I’ll be frank: It’s still like piracy, stealing and snagging someone else’s. It seems to me that both the Parliament and the Ministry of Culture should consider their own cinemas.”

He believes that the success of the films “Cheburashka” and “Kholop” speaks of the rise of Russian cinema. Salbiev believes that Russians will not see “something new” in films from hostile countries. The director stressed that he has a negative attitude towards “intellectual uproar” and assured that “no regrets, no newsreel” in foreign cinema.
