American director Rian Johnson talked about working with Angela Lansbury, the star of the cult TV series “Murder, She Wrote,” who starred in a cameo in “The Glass Onion,” the sequel to comedy detective “Knives Out.” The producer shared the details in an interview with The New York Times.
Lansbury appears in the scene at the beginning of the tape where the main character – private detective Benoit Blanc played by Daniel Craig – plays “Between Us” online while talking to them on Zoom. The legendary actor starred in the image of one of his partners in the game.
According to Johnson, Lansbury was charming and generous in his work, but the director noted that he was “not an actor”.
“He was extremely patient between us in letting me explain his rules to him – up to a point. Just tell me what my lines are. I will trust you.”
The role in The Glass Onion was the final role for 96-year-old Lansbury, who passed away on October 11, 2022, a month after the film premiered at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival.
