The head of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Olga Lyubimova, said in an interview: TASSHe said that despite the difficulties, theatrical performances in the country will continue.
He described it as a “very difficult situation” regarding cinemas.
“We are working with the industry to ensure that more Russian films are shown,” the minister said.
According to him, approximately 300 local films should be released annually and 60 of them will be big screens.
Lyubimova noted that this year 11.6 billion rubles from the federal budget were allocated to the production of domestic films to protect the film industry. Another support measure is the Pushkin Card program, which cinemas participate in in February. More than 7 million tickets have been purchased since the program’s inception. However, as the minister stated, even this was not enough. Currently, the Ministry of Culture is looking for new solutions to support film distribution.
Lyubimova also stated that the cinemas in the Russian Federation live in a different economic model. She explained that the country has “a lot” of movies and content, she said.
“There were Americans, Europeans, writers. And the cinema thought three more times what to draw so that it was even more profitable. Yes, the model has changed, the situation has changed. That’s why it needs to be calculated. This means that you need to learn to negotiate with other organizations to search for your target audience. Only he would come,” the minister added.
Previously on the Federation Council reported About a 56-70% drop in the box office of Russian cinemas.
