Disney-owned FX has commissioned a pilot for a remake of the cult British sitcom The Peep Show, designed by Descendants creator Jesse Eisenberg. Deadline reports.
Stephanie Robinson, who previously worked on Atlanta and What We Do in the Shadows, will write and direct the new Peep Show, according to the release. Deadline notes that this is far from the first attempt to make an American adaptation of the project, which aired on British Channel 4 from 2003 to 2015. In the last 17 years, there have been at least four attempts to remake it (the last being an FX attempt), but none of the shows have seen the light of day.
As Deadline pointed out, the channel will not be making a remake close to the original this time, but rather a series inspired by the British sitcom. Specifically, there will be two main characters instead of two, played by comedians David Mitchell and Robert Webb.
The original “Peep Show” was about the lives of two unlucky best friends who rent an apartment in south London. The stylistic feature of the sitcom was to shoot with a subjective camera and use voice-over to voice the thoughts of the main characters.
Previously It has been reported that the directors of the fifth “Scream” movie will be able to shoot the reboot of “Escape from New York”.
