American and Canadian actor Brendan Fraser (“Mummy”, “Kit”), shared details about his departure from the sequel to the 1997 adventure comedy George of the Jungle, in which he starred. The artist spoke about the incident in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“I think it was a remake of George and they added a joke about the studio being too cheap to hire me, which wasn’t too far from the truth,” Frazier said.
“I got an offer. I can’t remember what I was doing at the time, but I felt I wanted to instead shoot The Quiet American with Michael Caine and make the first western in Vietnam directed by Phillip Noyce to tell an overwhelmingly American story. I always make different choices and I hope it interests me and the audience. Looking back, I think everything [эти решения] collectively managed [меня] to where I am now, ”the actor concluded.
The movie “George of the Jungle” was released in 1997 and is dedicated to a man who was raised by gorillas in the African jungle where he lived until he met a girl named Ursula, who took him to San Francisco. The movie is based on the 1967 cartoon of the same name. In 2003, the tape came out with a sequel and was immediately released on physical media. There, Christopher Showerman played the role of George instead of Frazier. Both films were produced by Walt Disney Pictures.
In 2007, the first season of the animated series “George of the Jungle” began to be shown, the second season was released eight years later – in 2016.
Previously Brendan Fraser talked about the impact the harassment had on his career.
