Twenty-eight years after shedding her first ‘Tears of Love’, Camela celebrates its continuity in the galaxy with eighteenth studio album‘May the music be with you’, now from now on some “not easy” beginningsonly one left challenge to overcome: “Make a movie”.

One of the things we still have to do is make a movie of our history.. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a documentary, it should have been seen. And if not, be in a movie,” Angels Muñoz laughs off in a conversation with his partner Dioni Martín at the full promotion of his new album with EFE.

The duo likes to pay homage to movie titles on their covers and video clips, as is customary in their latest movies. They did this with ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Grease’ and ‘Bollywood’ and on this occasion ‘Star Wars’ was referenced, especially by Martin’s decision.

I consider myself a nerdy fan of these movies; I actually like to call myself Dioni Obi-Wan Kenobi (for one of the characters in the Lucas Films saga),” the musician points out with a laugh alongside his partner, who agreed to make Princess Leia’s version in return: “You put the Ensaimadas in my breakfast, not my breakfast. head,” he said.

As it would not diminish, ‘May the music accompany you’ (Warner Music) began to take shape within his confinement, but he spent his maturing process the year after the “fatness” of the pandemic, hence its name.

If Camela stands out for one thing, it’s that it’s an intergenerational duet whose songs are authentic anthems that have managed to carry their techno-rumba stamp from concerts to club songs.

Camela is the symbol of three generations. The children and even grandchildren of our fans, who know all of our songs, have been coming to our concerts since the beginning,” says Muñoz, before Martín’s confession of “pride”.

Our themes are used in weddings, family settings and discos as they are synonymous with joy and celebration.. Adults to kids love it, so it’s going to be Camela for a while,” she predicts.

Benidorm Fest: “Too much responsibility”

Since TVE launched Benidorm Fest last year to select the Spanish artist to represent Spain at Eurovision, Camela acknowledges that there have been many fans encouraging them to submit their nominations for the competition.

“TONow it’s not because it’s Benidorm Fest, but before many web pages say we’d be good candidates. But no, we are not for this business. We support the agent, we love the format, but it’s too much responsibility,” he insists.

On the other hand, they do not close the door of composing to any artist who wishes to participate in the competition. They say, “We wouldn’t hesitate to do that, actually we would. We should have talked to him that we were more or less in similar styles.”

Camela, who has been on tour since last year, is kicking off the promotion of this new album on January 13 at the Wizink Center in Madrid.

However, before reaching the capital, this Saturday in the cities of Torreorgaz (Cáceres), next Sunday in Benidorm (Alicante), November 19 in Tarragona, December 7 in Palma de Mallorca, December in Cartagena ( Murcia) they will take the stage. On 10 and 17 December in Marbella (Malaga).
