Between May and August, the European Union (EU) produced over 99 terawatt-hours of electricity from solar panels, a 28% increase over the same period last year. About informs Bloomberg cited data from independent think tank Ember.

“In the summer of 2022 Europe became the record holder in solar power generation – accounting for 12 percent of the EU energy mix from May to August. With the help of solar panels, 99.4 terawatt-hours of electricity was produced during the specified period.”

Analysts estimate that it would cost €29 billion to generate this amount of electricity using gas-fired power plants. At the same time, the growth in green power generation shows that Europe is doing its best to reduce its dependence on expensive and environmentally harmful fuels.

Experts agreed that investments in solar energy are starting to pay off, as every terawatt-hour of this energy helps Europeans save huge amounts. At the same time, so many power plants are now being built in Europe that every summer record for safe power generation can now be broken.

At the end of August, the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto declarationHungary plans to connect to green electricity supply from Azerbaijan. According to him, Baku will provide energy to Georgia, and from there it will go to Romania.
