The Association of Primorye Fisheries Industry Enterprises (ARPP) sent a letter to Denis Manturov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to deal with the situation of fake canned fish growth in retail. “Kommersan”refers to a copy of the document.
In the appeal, it says cases of “unscrupulous businesses replacing expensive saury in canned food with cheaper sardines and herring” have increased since 2020. The association calculated that the wholesale cost of raw materials for a can of canned saury last year was 65 rubles, sardines – 16 rubles. According to the organization, “counterfeit volume has reached millions of boxes” at the moment, but exact figures are not given.
Market participants fear that their revenues will decrease due to the growth of counterfeit products. The ministry promised to consider the letter after receiving it.
Earlier, the head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, called substitution method meat in baby sausages.
